Just not enough room for it!!!

Do you see the man in the background? Well he is standing on a very large stump. No, I need to start at the beginning.......Way back, a year and a half ago, when we moved into this house, we very quickly noticed a problem......a VERY LARGE PROBLEM!!! No, I need to go back farther. When our house was built, 40 years ago, apparently the owners decided it would be a good idea to plant a sycamore tree in our yard. A good idea, right? Well, not if you are planting it in the 10 square feet of land between you and your neighbor's house. I guess they just didn't know what a sycamore tree was....that or they just didn't care!! Needless to say, in the 40 years since, this tree has grown, and grown, and GROWN. We decided, it was time, and we had it cut down. O. K., now we can landscape and everything will be alright, right? NO WAY!!! Over the years, this tree's 'anaconda roots', to put it lightly, had reeked havoc on our driveway and our neighbor's driveway. Every time we backed out of our driveway, it felt like we had just ended a small animal's life.....nope, it is just the crumbling concrete!!!! Finally, this past week, we had the concrete dug up and re poured. YEA!!!!!
Luke thought it was pretty cool!!!
Do you see how hard those roots were to get up? Is that thing supposed to be that high in the air? I thought he was about to tip over. The guy said, " Those weren't roots under there, those were trees!!!" It was unreal to see how big they had gotten, and they were headed for the house!!!
We had some entertainment for the day, but it was bright outside!
Here they are pouring the nice, smooth, concrete!!! Next step, new landscaping!!!! I am so excited!!!

I am glad you were able to get that taken care of. The kids looked like they enjoyed watching the process too!

The best part about it all is that Luke is ready for all the action, because he is wearing his trusty galoshes. :)

Give them a kiss for me. Only three weeks 'till I see you. Hooray!
Love,
Mel
